Applications are open for the Social Entrepreneurship Programme and bursaries are available for applicants who meet the criteria. The sought-after course takes excellence in business innovation thinking and applies it to the social development space.

Are you passionate about a social problem that you’d like to solve? The GIBS Entrepreneurship Development Academy will be running it’s Social Entrepreneurship Programme (SEP) for the 15th year in 2022. This is a multi-disciplinary training programme to run a profit-making, purpose-driven business.

Social entrepreneurs drive social innovation and transformation in various fields including education, health, the creative arts, the environment, and enterprise development. These changemakers blend lessons from business with the diversity and complexity of social values, and in the process pursue opportunities for change. They seek long-term sustainability, while simultaneously combining the pursuits of purpose and profit when developing and implementing innovative solutions for collective social impact.

The SEP is a middle-management training programme, aimed at those who want to align their efforts to make a difference, measure their impact, and achieve social change by running social enterprises. The programme will be offered in a blended format (online and classroom-based), thus making it accessible to a broader audience.

How you will benefit: Develop insights into the complex challenges of social change, financial sustainability and innovation.  Build a deeper understanding of strategy, governance and leadership.  Hone your knowledge of marketing, finance, operations and HR management. Develop practical skills and gain access to useful tool-kits for building and running a social enterprise.  Enhance your ability to solve problems and implement long lasting solutions. Who should attend: CSI managers; Existing or potential social/sustainability entrepreneurs; NPO and NGO leaders and managers; B-BBEE and transformation experts; Board trustees;  Development practitioners; Government agencies, especially those interested in the social enterprise economy.  Funders looking for impact investing opportunities. Barloworld is giving five bursaries to participants of the 2022 Social Entrepreneurship Programme. Does your organisation make a positive social & economic contribution in the creative/green industries, ECD, basic education, post-school education, training, or the world of work?

Email a letter of motivation for the bursary to Lorenzo at linel@gibs.co.za after you have applied for the Social Entrepreneurship Programme. The decisions of the Bursary Committee in awarding scholarships will be final and no correspondence will be entered into once awards have been made.
