Liquid Intelligent Technologies, part of Cassava Technologies, has wrapped up its 2024 Fibre TechCelerate Programme with strong results that point to a more inclusive digital future. The graduation ceremony in East London honoured 20 local SMMEs and 10 female ICT students from Walter Sisulu University — all now certified to participate in the Eastern Cape’s fibre and broadband rollout. At the same event, 25 new SMMEs were welcomed into the 2025 cohort.

The year-long initiative delivers a powerful combination of business, digital, and technical training—including fibre optics installation, occupational health and safety, business management, digital skills, and mentorship. It equips small businesses to take part in the province’s connectivity expansion efforts as credible, capable partners.
“This programme is more than just a skills accelerator; it’s a catalyst for transformation,” said Ziaad Suleman, CEO of Cassava Technologies in South Africa and Botswana. “We are proud to be empowering local businesses, especially youth and women, while investing in a digitally inclusive future for the Eastern Cape and beyond.”
Dr Andile Ngcaba, patron of the Cortex Hub—which delivered the programme—added that it goes beyond enterprise development, preparing Eastern Cape SMMEs to thrive in the digital economy.
The broader impact is significant: the region’s network expansion has created over 7,000 permanent and temporary jobs so far. Liquid’s initiative exemplifies how public‑private partnerships can fuel South Africa’s digital transformation while ensuring no community gets left behind.
