Isuzu Motors South Africa has renewed its long-running partnership with Nelson Mandela University’s Govan Mbeki Mathematics Development Centre to support maths education across the Eastern Cape. The initiative will expand the reach of cutting-edge digital teaching tools and training to underserved schools and teachers.

Since 2010, Isuzu has backed the centre’s work to build maths and science capability in disadvantaged communities. “This partnership is about impact, not charity,” said Mongezi Hermans, Senior Vice President for Human Capital and Corporate Affairs at Isuzu. “We’re investing in a skilled, employable future workforce.”

The collaboration will see further roll-out of MobiTutorZA, a mobile learning app, along with targeted teacher development and learner support across rural districts.

By aligning industry support with local education delivery, Isuzu and Nelson Mandela University are helping to close the maths gap—one learner, one teacher, one device at a time.
