This Mandela Day, Ladles of Love is calling on individuals, corporates, and communities to roll up their sleeves and help nourish South Africa’s children through a nationwide campaign of kindness and impact.

The non-profit organisation is mobilising thousands of volunteers to pack essential food and education items for children in need. With the goal of producing 1 million meals, Ladles of Love aims to combat childhood hunger and ensure dignity through care packs, lunchboxes, and stationery kits.
Events will be hosted in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Gqeberha on 18 July, with additional support activities taking place in schools and communities across the country. Individuals can join physically or contribute by sponsoring a Mandela Day care package online for just R150.
Danny Diliberto, founder of Ladles of Love, says the initiative is about more than food—it’s about restoring dignity and creating opportunity. “Every meal packed, every item donated helps a child not just survive, but thrive,” he says.
