In a strategic move that could redefine economic growth in KwaZulu‑Natal, Standard Bank and the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) have launched a pioneering Export Readiness Programme tailored specifically for SMEs based in the province.

By Cape Business News

From 30 June to 9 July 2025, ambitious SMEs have a golden opportunity to join a cohort of 20 high-potential participants. These businesses will benefit from a robust support package that includes comprehensive export compliance training, certification support, trade finance tools, and access to both African and global markets via Standard Bank’s continent-wide network and SACCI’s extensive trade partnerships.

Despite its two major ports, vibrant manufacturing base, and thriving agricultural sector, KwaZulu‑Natal has seen many SMEs struggle to break into international markets—held back by complex export regulations, limited funding, and a lack of global trade experience. This initiative aims to bridge that gap, providing practical training and strategic links to catapult KZN’s SMEs onto the world stage.

Naledzani Mosomane, Head of Enterprise & Supplier Development at Standard Bank, remarks:

“SMEs in KZN are ambitious and capable but they need the right ecosystem to grow internationally… This programme delivers that by offering practical tools and strategic partnerships”.

Aligned with Standard Bank’s ESD priorities, the programme is designed to uplift black‑owned SMEs, promoting inclusive economic growth and transformation. SACCI CEO Alan Mukoki adds:

“South Africa’s economic future depends on unlocking the potential of our SMEs… This partnership … is a pipeline to global markets for KZN businesses that are ready to take the next step.”

Why KZN?
With its strategic location, two major seaports, and growing intra‑African trade corridors, the province is perfectly positioned to lead SME‑driven export growth.

For KwaZulu‑Natal’s rising SMEs, this is more than a training programme—it’s a launchpad for scaling, exporting, and making a global mark.
Apply now to be part of a smarter, stronger, and more globally connected future.
