In the midst of Level 5 lockdown, when so many small businesses’ ability to survive was in doubt, an Absa initiative to provide masks for its staff offered a lifeline to The Jodi Deerling Brand.
The brief was to sew 52 000 masks in a very short time. Absa’s support of this small company enabled its 10 employees to feed their families. And, as the Jodi Deerling team worked day and night to fill this enormous order, they gained another invaluable benefit from the project. They realised that they are family to each other.
This story is the perfect example of Africanacity − the distinctly African ability to find a way to get things done.
