CEO Nick van Rensburg traced the journey from a one-person start-up to supporting 1,423 SMMEs, sustaining 24,000 jobs and achieving a 93% loan recovery rate — positioning enterprise finance as a lever for jobs and growth.
Chairman Butana Khoza argued that traditional banks remain out of reach for many entrepreneurs and stressed that Phakamani provides access to capital paired with improvement in borrowers’ profiles, aiming for firms to graduate into the mainstream system.
Beyond funding, the Phakamani Learning Academy blends training, mentoring and financial literacy, with founders crediting compliance upgrades, certifications and operational resilience to the model. The message is clear: impact is measured in stronger businesses and wider community benefits.
