Tiger Brands Empowers Limpopo Tomato Farmers Behind Iconic All Gold Sauce

Nine smallholder farms in Musina, Limpopo have received critical irrigation infrastructure from Tiger Brands—a move that marks the launch of its Hulisani Programme, aimed at transforming local food security and building sustainable rural livelihoods.

Climate-Proofing Local Produce

After severe frost impacted the region in 2024, Tiger Brands installed durable and adaptable irrigation systems tailored to water quality, helping farms mitigate climate risk and boost crop yields. These upgrades have increased productivity and cut irrigation costs, freeing up resources for broader farm investment.

Beyond Tomatoes: Building Business Resilience

Under the Hulisani Programme, Tiger Brands also provides cultivar-specific tomato seedlings, ongoing agronomic training, financial coaching, and record-keeping support. These measures aim to professionalise smallholder operations and embed long-term self-sufficiency.

Importantly, the irrigation systems benefit farmers year-round—enabling diversification into alternative crops post-tomato season.

A Critical Link in the Tomato Value Chain

Tiger Brands works with over 100 commercial and emerging farmers across Musina and Lutzville, procuring up to 100,000 tonnes of tomatoes annually—vital inputs for All Gold Tomato Sauce and other flagship products.

By strengthening this value chain—from seed to processing—Tiger Brands is bolstering national food security, promoting socioeconomic inclusion, and reducing reliance on imports.

Strategic Impact for Growth

This initiative creates a blueprint for resilient local agriculture. By investing in infrastructure and skills, Tiger Brands ensures reliable sourcing, empowers farmer-owned businesses, and fosters climate adaptation in rural communities.

With a holistic support framework—from seeds and irrigation to technical guidance and market access—Tiger Brands is redefining how corporate and community interests can align for shared prosperity.
