In the spirit of giving back and honouring Tata Madiba’s legacy, this Mandela Month HEINEKEN South Africa’s employees responded to the call to make each day a Mandela Day by making a difference and inspiring change in their various communities. Employees gave 67 minutes of their time to better the lives of others.
In Sandton and Sedibeng, we partnered with Rise Against Hunger to pack meal packs. Our employees worked together in their 67-minute timeslots to pack meals which are being donated to various communities.
Our regional sales teams also extended their acts of kindness by spending their time at welfare centres, old age homes, community safe homes, recycling projects, centres for differently abled people and centres dedicated to gender-based violence victims. Amongst other things, the teams in their various regions donated much needed structural renovations to the various organisations, computers, non-perishable food items, assisted with cleaning and painting some of the centres. They assisted with other handyman tasks, donated wheelchairs, blankets, water tanks and served the most needy with meals.
As HEINEKEN, we are committed to growing with communities in which we operate in and improving the lives of people living in our communities. This is entrenched in our DNA as we are Brewing a Better World. In living to our core value of people and planet, we have an opportunity to use our business as a positive force for change.
