Six high-performing small businesses in South Africa’s automotive aftermarket have been awarded R1 million in funding and support through the Motor Industry Workshop Association (MIWA) Enterprise Development Programme—an initiative driven in partnership with OUTsurance and powered by MerSETA and the Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI).

The programme backs black-owned workshops with growth potential, providing direct grants, mentorship, and business development support to help them scale sustainably.

“These aren’t handouts—they’re strategic investments in small business,” said Les Mc Master, MIWA Chairman. “With OUTsurance on board, we’re empowering SMEs ready to grow, hire, and lead in the local economy.”

Winners were selected for their operational excellence and community value, and span diagnostics, repair, and maintenance. The goal is to build a more inclusive and competitive auto repair sector—one SME at a time.
